Digital advertising is the way to go when it comes to creating traffic and brand recognition.

Google, as one of the largest digital advertising platforms, is a big reason why traditional advertising is being outscored.

Here are two Google tools that can assist you in growing your business. They both specialize in advertising, and their logos are comparably similar. They are, however, designed for quite different purposes and are easily mistaken for one another.

The major difference between Google Ads and AdSense is who they are intended for.

Advertisers use Google Ads, whereas publishers, or website owners, use AdSense.

Google Ads, formerly known as Google AdWords, is the platform that advertisers use to promote their brands and products. They can create and display these ads across Google’s search engine and network.

Advertisers create campaigns with a specific business aim in mind, such as increasing phone calls, increasing in-store foot traffic, driving traffic to their website, among many other goals. These different campaigns define where an advertiser’s ad can be seen by potential customers.

Advertisers then pay Google when their ads are clicked on by users, hence why it’s commonly referred to as PPC (Pay Per Click).

For example, advertisers can place bids for the placement of an ad on Google’s Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). If you know there’s a need for your product and your audience is using search engines to search for your product (or related products), then search ads that appear in the SERPs are a great option.

AdSense, on the other hand, allows publishers to reserve space on their website for Google advertisements (text, video, images). It is a marketing platform for website owners/ bloggers or anyone with an online presence, in which Google rents or buys space to display ads.

Google Ads is used by advertisers to attract traffic to their websites, and Google AdSense is used by publishers to monetize their existing traffic. Publishers, however, have some control over the types of ads that appear. Text ads, display ads, rich media ads, and more options are available to them.

They can also customize or develop their ad style, which allows them to alter the size, color, textual, background, and border aspects of the ads that appear on their website. Additionally, each of their websites can only have three content advertisements, three-link ads, and two search boxes.

Different setup procedures

To begin using Google Ads or AdSense, you must first create a separate account for each.

In just a few minutes, you can create a Google Ads account and start advertising.

All you have to do now is:

  • Start your Google Account
  • Use your email and password to log in to Google Ads.
  • Create your first campaign.

You’re now good to go.

On the other hand, Google asks for a little more information about you and your website to sign up for AdSense. The following information will be needed:

  • The URL of your website
  • Language
  • Account type
  • Your name and address
  • Phone number

After you’ve signed up for AdSense, you’ll be able to choose the types of adverts you’d like to see on your site and choose where you want the advertising to appear on it.

The great thing about Adsense is that Google will choose the most relevant and high-paying ads for you automatically.

Payment:

You make money with AdSense and spend money with Google Ads. Marketers can set a budget for their Google Advertisements campaigns and pay a certain amount, while publishers are compensated for each click on advertisers’ ads on their website via Adsense. As a result, with Google Ads, you have complete control over the amount of money you spend.

On the other hand, with Adsense, publishers are compensated for each click, and the only way to increase their earnings is to increase site traffic.

So, you just discovered that Google Ads vs. AdSense both play an important role in Google’s online marketing strategy. Both methods are popular and easy-to-use tools for growing or monetizing your website.
